Hello everyone!
Since changing a lifestyle can be such a challenge, I am sharing my journey! My goal in this blog is to share how I eat, recipes, challenges and how I overcome them, sucesses and failures! You are not alone!
Early in 2021, I knew I had to stop putting off taking care of myself. I hated going to the Dr, I stopped loving myself years ago. I ate my way to almost 300 lbs and was afraid that my liver was being damaged by years of OTC pain meds for chronic pain in my neck. I was morbidly obese, my fitness was drastically getting worse. I was sedentary in both my home life and work life.
I was swollen in my upper abdomen and was afraid of fatty liver, remembering that my brother had liver issues and died of liver cancer after liver disease, a lightbulb went off.
I scheduled an appointment with my Dr and after several tests, found liver changes such as swelling and elevated liver enzymes. When I read that medical report I knew that I couldn't go on as I had been! It was time to change my life!
I had struggled many times in the past to lose weight, only to fail. Without support from immediate family it was very difficult.
I enrolled in the Dr. Poon Metabolic Program, http://www.poondiet.com/ and started following the program with a vengeance. I knew that I could possibly be saving my own life and years of suffering with debilitating medical issues. I knew that it was very restrictive, so creativity and an attitude of "what I can have" vs "what I can't have" could make a difference.
Over the course of 13 weeks, even with struggles with emotional eating, I was able to lose 42 lbs. I still have a very long journey, still struggle but with perseverance, I know that I can do this! You can too!
I will share my tips and tricks, creative ideas, thoughts on how I try to maintain an "I can do this" attitude, recipes, successes and failures and hope that this can be of help and inspiration to others.
